The synthesis and study of siloxane carbonate copolymers

Popis: Siloxane carbonate copolymers containing linkages in the macromolecular chains were synthesized from α,ω-bis-(β-hydroxyethoxymethyl)-dimethyl-siloxanes,2,2,-bis-(4-hydroxyphenyl)propane and their dichloroformates by low temperature and interfacial polycondensation. The effects of the ratio of components and of the length of the siloxane chain present in the oligomers on the composition and properties of the copolymers were investigated, as well as resistance to hydrolysis and optical properties. The siloxane carbonate copolymers were found to be heat resistant in air to 300°C regardless of the content and length of the siloxane chain present in them.
