| Popis: | Helen Harrison and her associates are to be congratulated on the thoughtful, useful, and appropriate "Principles for Family Centered Neonatal Care," which were published in the November 1993 issue of Pediatrics. I suggest that these principles, with some slight modifications, could well apply to the care of all newborn babies and really, by extension, to all the work that pediatricians do. Mrs. Harrison and her associates might consider two additional principles: 11. Parents and professionals must work together to overcome the barriers caused by discrepancy between parent and professional, social status, educational level, cultural, religious, or ethnic backgrounds. |
