Roll angle estimation of a spinning object: Experimental setup and preliminary results

Popis: In this paper, a low-complexity concept is presented to estimate the roll angle of a spinning object. The circuitry is based on a radio frequency (RF) power detector in combination with a linearly polarized antenna for signal reception. Due to the utilization of the power detector, the requirement on the sampling rate of the mandatory analog-to-digital converter (ADC) is relaxed significantly. First measurement results utilizing the g-hardened system are introduced and show the feasibility of the concept.
