Popis: | Computer simulations of the radiolysis occurring in a 2 mol dm −3 lithium hydroxide aqueous breeder blanket at projected International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) dose rates and radiation quality have been undertaken using the program, FACSIMILE. In the absence of any added hydrogen, the simulations indicated that system operating pressures of up to 2.3 MPa may be required to keep the radiolytically produced oxygen and hydrogen gases dissolved in solution. However, the addition of 5 × 10 −4 mol dm −3 (11 cc kg −1 ) hydrogen is predicted to suppress the radiolysis so that a much lower system operating pressure of 200 kPa would be sufficient to keep the excess hydrogen gas dissolved. |
