Popis: | Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is the most common cause of bladder outlet obstruction in elderly men. Autopsy studies have found histological evidence of BPH in 43% of men aged 55 years, increasing to 80% at age 75 (Berry et al. 1984). The lifetime estimated risk for developing symptoms of BPH is 78%, and 29% for undergoing prostate surgery of BPH, in a 40-year-old man who lives to the age of 80 (Glynn et al. 1985). |
