Electrical Conductivity of GdCl3-Gd2O3 Molten System

Popis: | The electrical conductivity of GdCl3 chloride melts with the gadolinium oxide (Gd2O3) additions ranging from 0 to 5 mol % was measured depending on both the temperature and concentration of Gd2O3. The obtained temperature dependencies can be approximated by Arrhenius-type equation. The calculated effective activation energy values of electrical conductivity increase with the increasing concentration of Gd2O3 above 2.5 mol %. A decrease in the electrical conductivity of the chloride melts when adding the gadolinium oxide according to the Raman spectra data can be explained by the presence of [OGd3Cln] oxychloride associates. |
