Popis: | We have successfully grown a-axis oriented YBa2Cu3O7−x (YBCO) superconducting thin films on MgO (001) substrates the in situ pulsed laser deposition technique. The films are highly oriented as determined by 2| X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy (TEM); [100] domains oriented at 90° have been observed. It is demonstrated that epitaxy is not necessary for the growth of a-axis oriented thin films. A zero resistance superconducting transition temperature of 89 K has been measured which is, to our knowledge, the highest value for a-axis oriented thin films. |
