Popis: | Geometrical reordering of a focal image with optical fibers allows to obtain simultaneous spectra of all the points chosen in a given field. That could increase noticeably the efficiency of telescopes. We designed a spectrograph ("SILFID") for the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope, which is adapted to fiber optics devices. It will work in 2 configurations: either for simultaneous observations of several point-like objects in a field, or of several adjacent regions in a single extended object. Similar devices could make the best of the Space Telescope potentialities for its "second generation" instrumentation. Three possible bi-dimensional spectrograph are described using slicer fibers above λ≈2000 A and micro-mirrors at shorter wavelengths. |
