Popis: AN OUTBREAK of a respiratory disease occurred at the Passaic County Egg Laying Test, Paterson, N. J., during the test year which started October 1, 1945. The outbreak was diagnosed as Newcastle disease by Dr. F. R. Beaudette, poultry pathologist, by means of neutralization tests on the recovered birds. In his report on the diagnosis of the disease, Dr. Beaudette said: “In setting up the test, 10-fold serial dilutions of Newcastle virus in the form of allantoic fluid were made in broth. Then 0.2 cc. of serum was mixed with an equal quantity of the respective virus dilutions. For the virus titration 0.2 cc. of the virus dilutions was mixed with an equal quantity of broth. In the first test conducted the mixtures were incubated only for about an hour prior to inoculation into embryonated eggs. The total dose per egg was 0.1 cc. Eggs that had been incubated 10 . . .
