Popis: | This report describes the results of a cultural resource mitigation project (Project No. R-1760) undertaken on the proposed Spurlock Substation property (3.23 acres) by Regional Environmental Consultants (RECON) for Salt River Project (SRP). A portion of a prehistoric Hohokam site, AZ U:11:1(RECON), was identified within the project area during an earlier survey conducted by RECON (Project Number R-1760) and it was recommended that further mitigative action be taken within this portion of the site prior to construction of the substation. A mitigation plan was designed and then implemented between January 29 and February 1, 1988. The plan called for intensive surface collections and a series of test units to be excavated in the areas of greatest artifact density to evaluate the subsurface contents and integrity of that portion of the site within the project area. Testing indicated the likelihood that subsurface deposits were either absent or extremely limited in distribution. As a consequence, it was concluded that all significant resource values were recovered by surface collection. |
