Radiation chemical grafting of vinylpyridines to the surface of silica gel

Popis: The radiation initiated, graft polymerization of 2-methyl-5-vinylpyridine from the gas phase on the surface of large pored silica gel is discussed. The effect of dose rate, temperature and the vapour tension of the monomer is shown. 2-Vinyl- and 4-vinyl-pyridine were also grafted on to the surface of silica gel. The mineralorganic material thus obtained possesses ion exchange properties.
