Popis: | In this investigation experiment was carried out on a 50mm diameter pipe jet fitted at the jet flow setup. Measurements were taken at Re 1.125e5 and 0.75e5 based on the diameter of the pipe jet. Measurements were taken with three-hole wedge type yawmeter and inclined tube manometers. In the plane pipe jet the potential core was found to exist up-to x/D=3 for both the Reynolds numbers but in the swirling jets no potential core was found to exist. The velocity maxima in swirling jets shifted outward right from the jet exit and the degree of shifting was decreasing in jet flow direction. 45-degree swirl pipe jet exhibits two velocity maxima one slightly away from the jet center and the other further away towards the jet boundary. This was found up-to x/D=1, further in the downward direction single velocity maxima were occurred away from the jet center before starting to its normal decay. The centerline velocity started to decay asymptotically from the jet exit and extended up-to x/D = 15 for 30-degree swirl. In 45 degree swirl the jet disappeared at x/D = 5 due to intense mixing. |
