Popis: Surfactants have a pronounced effect on iron anode wetting, passive-active transition potential and electro- dissolution rate, in sulfuric acid solutions. This was verified by measuring electrode corrosion rates, passive-active transition potentials and electrode-electrolyte contact angles for iron electrodes in contact with aqueous sulfuric acid solutions of different concentrations and in IM H2SO4 solutions in the presence of various detergents. The effect of the surfactants is very complex, and it depends on the nature of surfactant and on the electrode history. However, the experimental results show that the Marangoni effect has a major role in iron anode (de) passivation.
