Popis: | Sustainability, renewability, eco-friendly, and green chemistry are guiding towards the new development of the next generation of materials in marine applications. More recently, natural fibre reinforced plastic (NFRPs) have provided an alternative solution for boat builders with enhanced bio reinforcement, however, they suffer from questionable mechanical properties and their performance. The combination of bio-reinforcement such as Kenaf, bamboo, banana, and pineapple leaf fibre with polymer matrixes from both nonrenewable and renewable resources to produce composites materials that are comparable with synthetic composites requires special attention, i.e., bio-reinforcement, interphase optimization and fabrication techniques. This review aims to provide an overview of the factors that are affecting the mechanical properties, performance of NFRPs and potential cellulose based polymer for marine application. |
