Legislative Advocacy and Human Service Nonprofits: What Are We Doing?

Popis:	The purpose of this study was to determine institutional factors that predict overall advocacy participation and the targets of advocacy chosen by a group of human service nonprofits. Results from the administered survey showed that knowledge of the lobbying law was a significant predictor of overall advocacy participation as well as of advocacy targets. The percentage of restricted funding was also a significant predictor of advocacy targets. Results support previous research showing that human service nonprofits are involved in advocacy; however, it also questions the level of advocacy involvement. Implications for practice, research, and social work education are discussed.
