Here in, we describe the development of vibrational micro-spectroscopy techniques such as infrared spectroscopy and Synchrotron Far IR spectroscopy and Raman spectroscopy for the characterization of platinum (IV) and (II) complexes, which are used as anti-cancer drugs. A translational approach utilising the latest development in spectroscopic techniques is developed to understand chemotherapeutic interactions with DNA and cell cultures. The efficacy of using platinum (IV) and (II) based complexes has been examined by spectroscopically monitoring the accumulation of the drug in cells with the application of multivariate analysis. In addition, computational calculations were performed for a range of platinum complexes to understand their vibrational spectra. |
