The aim of this work was to design microcosms and to validate their use as standardized systems in order to predict, to some extent, recombinant DNA (rDNA) dissemination in the environment. Five laboratories participated in (i) the construction of model bacterial strains and plasmids and the checking of their genetic stability, (ii) the definition of techniques for recovering and identifying specific microorganisms from the microcosms, (iii) the implementation of microcosms or artificial experimental systems representative of ecological niches; soils, waters, attached bacterial populations, animal digestive tracts. |
