Popis: | Vocal pedagogy for gospel music is relatively new to the field of vocal pedagogy and voice science. Even within the genre, information on how to address the musical and technical development of the gospel singer is not readily available. This chapter is intended to provide preliminary information on the various aspects of teaching gospel singing. First a brief background of the cultural perspective from which the performance of the genre stems will be presented. It is intended to help the voice teacher understand some of the cultural sensitivities that accompany this style of music. Next, general information regarding pedagogy for gospel singing will be briefly discussed. This information includes the role of the instructor and other aspects of teaching the gospel singer that should be considered or recognized. |
