Popis: Hall and Cartrite (1) and Stuart et al. (3) reported on field strains of Salmonella gallinarum that were apparently resistant to furazolidone. Hall and Cartrite (1) demonstrated that resistance could be induced by serial-passaging the organism in the presence of the drug in vitro. These studies present pertinent history concerning a fowl typhoid problem on a broiler breeder farm for a period of 46 months and experimental data on 2 isolates of S. gallinarum, one sensitive to furazolidone and one resistant, recovered 39 days apart from the same flock.
