Popis: | In recent era, the usage of medical images in hospitals is increasing, as the medical imaging repositories are growing rapidly. This causes difficulties in similar image retrieval, when a query image of a particular patient is provided by the physician for disease diagnosis. This paper proposes a novel descriptor for CT image retrieval and is called the Local DIRectional Extrema Number Pattern (LDIRENP).The LDIRENP descriptor is calculated using the first order derivative of the local direction pixel values. In this work, only the local directional pixel values are considered to generate the LDIRENP, which makes the image retrieval process faster as the dimensions of the feature vector length is reduced. The proposed LDIRENP feature descriptor is tested on the noise free and noisy standard CT image benchmark databases NEMA-CT and Emphysema-CT. Further, The experimental results of the proposed method are compared with existing methods. |
