In this paper, a Consequent Pole Dual Stator Hybrid Excited Linear Flux Switching Machine (CP-DHELFSM) with characteristics of high thrust density of permanent magnet (PM) motor and flux regulation capability of field excited machines is proposed. The proposed design has all excitation sources on short mover having completely passive secondary, which makes it prominent candidate for rail transit systems. CP-DHELFSM provides an improved magnetic flux regulation capability under various magnetic field currents while reducing the PM volume by 33%. More importantly, by placing PM in the magnetization direction opposite to the leakage flux, the mover leakage flux is eliminated. Single variable optimization is used to optimize the various design parameters such as split ratio, width of PM inside h-tooth, width of flux bridge and stator pole width while keeping the slot area, electric and magnetic loading constant. The optimized design has improved peak to peak flux linkage up to 43.02%, average thrust force (T F avg ) up to 41 %, thrust force density (T F D) up to 40.54 %, reduced thrust force ripples (T F rip ) up to 36.28%. |
