Nasal polyposis can be defined as a chronic inflammatory disease of the paranasal-sinus mucosa, leading to a protrusion of benign edematous polyps from the meatus into the nasal cavity [11]. It is generally acknowledged that polyps can recur, even after “radical” surgery and sometimes occur as late as 10–15 years after a previous procedure. There is now a consensus of most authors [2, 6, 7, 11, 15, 19, 22, 28, 35, 36] that treatment needs to involve both medical and surgical aspects: steroid therapy during inflammatory disease and surgery of polypoid disease. |
