Polymer-anchored ethylaluminum as the catalyst component of olefin metathesis reactions

Popis: In the presence of a polymer-anchored olefin metathesis catalyst, i.e. WCl 6 /polymer-anchored ethylaluminum chloride or WCl 6 /polymeranchored diethylaluminum, pent-2-ene or cis -oct-2-ene do not disproportionate at the ratio of catalyst components (W/Al = 1:2) where the corresponding unsupported catalysts attain their highest catalytic activity. Addition of extra EtAlCl 2 as a co-catalyst is required for the formation of the catalytically active species necessary for olefin metathesis. Polymer-anchored ethylaluminum chloride or diethylaluminum seem to act as carriers of the active species for the olefin metathesis reaction.
