Estimation of a velocity model prior to AVO migration / inversion forms an important processing step that has impact on the accuracy of the final result. In fact, due to the non-linearity of the inverse problem, there could be a number of velocity models that satisfy a predefined criteria for being “the best” velocity model. The aim of this paper is to discuss the influence of such a group of best velocity models, defined by a certain fitness criteria, on AVO migration/inversion In addition we examine the influence of coherent percentage velocity errors on AVO migration/inversion. |
