Popis: A linear theory is presented of closely wound, helical, magnetic flux compression transducers; the theory is based on an equivalent circuit model. Load inductance, load resistance, and eight basic materials and design parameters are taken into account; capacitances are neglected. It was necessary to introduce two parameters which are not well understood, but it can be proven that varying them causes only minor changes in the results. The primary conclusion reached is that device performance is limited by both flux loss and flux remaining in the generator after compression.
