We contribute to the literature on pairwise-proportional-imitation in the following ways. First, we build upon Mertikopoulos and Viossat (2016) work to derive exact values of the asymptotic distribution of strategies in a two population version of a prisoner’s dilemma game where the payoffs are perturbed by strategy-specific noise. Thus, in addition to knowing whether a dominated strategy would survive, our analysis can give the likelihood that a dominated strategy would survive and how that likelihood depends on the underlying characteristics of the game. Secondly, we experimentally test the theory to verify if the presence of strategy-specific noise can lead to a persistence of dominated strategies. |
