Popis: This chapter offers very personal insights into key ideas from 13 chapters in the edited volume The Learning and Development of Mathematics Teacher Educators: International Perspectives and Challenges. In particular, the chapter draws out a rich perspective on who MTEs are and how they work, think and reflect and also the collaborative communities in which they research and develop the practices they use in promoting and supporting teachers’ learning. Relationships between MTEs and teachers are seen as complex and reciprocal insofar as both groups develop as teachers and, in many cases, also as researchers. The chapter emphasises personal reflections, narrative accounts and voice as important tools in the developmental process while stimulating readers to address their own learning. Theoretical perspectives are compared and analysed to see their developmental and analytical contributions. Overall, readers may see the activity and learning of MTEs as deeply enriched in developmental, theoretical and methodological dimensions.
