Popis: | In recent years, the growing production of waste generated a large toxic quantity of leachate, as no treatment was applied. In the same context, the application of anaerobic digestion technology is growing worldwide, due to its economic and environmental benefits, and ever-growing necessity of energy resources, capable to also offer the reduction of greenhouse gases, and thus reducing ever-growing climate changes. In this context, the study consists of investigating the feasibility of treating landfill leachate through anaerobic digestion processes, as applicable in Agadir city (in Morocco). Two types of leachates were investigated, fresh leachate and leachate from storage basins. The main aim of the research focuses on studying the effect of different parameters (pH-value, type of leachate, percentage of inoculum, ultrasound pre-treatment) in a mesophilic temperature upon the bio-methane potential (BMP), using the design of experiments method. The Plackett-Burman screening design was used to distinguish the parameters, influencing the process of anaerobic digestion and improve the methanogenic yield. The highest production of methane has been obtained at pH, leachate from storage basins, by using 25 % of inoculum (by mass), and with ultrasound pre-treatment. Under these conditions, the BMP reached 141 ml CH4/g VS. Proceedings of the 30th European Biomass Conference and Exhibition, 9-12 May 2022, Online, pp. 223-227 |
