Haidinger’s rings in soap bubbles

Popis: By suitable arrangements which are described, it is possible to obtain soap-bubbles which are perfectly uniform in thickness and to maintain them in that state. Such bubbles exhibit by transmission or reflexion, interference figures consisting of concentric rings which are essentially of the same physical nature as the Haidinger rings due to a plane-parallel plate, besides being geometrically similar to them in configuration. Sixteen photographs are reproduced showing the interference figures of soap-bubbles of uniform thickness as also of the changes which occur in them when the films are allowed to drain. The question of the localisation of the interference figures of a curved plate is discussed.
