Popis: The proposed apparatus is designed to determine simultaneously a series of thermal properties of liquids and gases, namely, thermal conductivity λ, heat capacity per unit volume C p ρ (C p is the specific heat at constant pressure and ρ is the density), and consequently thermal diffusivity α = λ/(C p ρ) and the thermal activity coefficient \( \b = \lambda /\sqrt a = \sqrt {\lambda {C_p}\rho }.\ \) The apparatus employs the principle of a probe, thin wire, or foil, which is heated to create a thermal disturbance in a substance, after which the thermal reaction of the substance to such a disturbance is determined. The thermal response carries information on the thermal properties.
