Popis: Third-stage larvae of Popillia japonica Newman at densities equivalent to 54–861/m were allowed to feed for 4–7 wk in established bluegrass turf in 15cm diam pots maintained at Soil moisture levels of 60 and 90% of field capacity. At the highest levels of infestation, there were significant reductions in yields of harvested grass after one week followed by severe reductions in yields and eventual death of plants. Grass yields from pots with moisture maintained at 90% soil moisture were 34–55% greater than yields from pots maintained at 60%, showing that the higher level of soil moisture mitigated the effects of the larval feeding.
