Popis: Dysplasia and instability of the hip joint belong to the most demanding pediatric orthopedic disorders altering biomechanics and consecutive muscular overuse, osteoarthritis, pain, and reduced mobility. Causes are developmental, congenital, and by the majority neuromuscular and systemic diseases. Improving coverage of the femoral head and congruity of the joint may be achieved by osteotomies around the hip in childhood as long as there is plasticity of the musculoskeletal tissue. Selection of the most suitable surgical procedure depends on pathomechanism, shape of the acetabulum, and patient’s age and activities. This chapter describes pelvic and femoral osteotomies which have proved to be effective and safe considering long-term outcome studies.
