Criterion for the linear convective to absolute instability transition of a jet in crossflow: The countercurrent viscous and round mixing-layer analogy

Popis: An inviscid and planar mixing-layer analogy has been recently developed to qualitatively identify the transverse jet transition from convectively to absolutely unstable. We have shown that introducing Reynolds number effects on the disturbance behavior as well as evaluating the entire problem in cylindrical instead of Cartesian coordinates leads to significant improvements. This novel viscous and round mixing-layer analogy can accurately identify the transverse jet transition.
