Popis: Protamines areused in clinical practice for rapid and adequate neutralization of the anticoagulant effect of heparin as its antagonists introduced into the bloodstream [3, 13]. They are nucleic proteins of sex cells of fishes with a relatively simple structure and with a very high content of the essential amino acids, in particular arginine (60-70%) [1-4]. Protamines isolated from various sources differ in the amino acid composition, and, in general, consist of two and more components [i]. Because of the characteristic feature of protamines the high content of the essential amino acids (Arg, Lis, His) and a uniform distribution of the positive charge density along the whole polypeptide chain, they are capable of inactivating heparin as a result of electrostatic interaction.
