Popis: | Composite biomaterials based on hydrogel biopolymers and bioactive ceramic fillers are highly attractive to wound dressing applications due to the enhanced swelling properties of hydrogel towards blood and exudates and the tissue regeneration provided by inorganic fillers. This study highlights the fabrication of Chitosan-Hyaluronic Acid-Biosilicate® (CHI-HA-BioS) composite films as a matrix for wound healing applications. Firstly, a protocol to prepare the CHI-HA-BioS composite by solvent casting was assessed. Then, the films were characterized by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM); in addition, in vitro tests were conducted to evaluate their equilibrium water content (EWC), bioactivity, and cytotoxicity. The results showed that the protocol enabled the incorporation of HA into the CHI-BioS structure of the composite, increasing its EWC and cell cytocompatibility, but reducing its bioactivity. Therefore, the characterizations of the material validated the protocol and demonstrated its efficiency. The CHI-HA-BioS composite has great potential for biomedical applications, especially in the development of dermal wound dressings. |
