Telehealth has been used to provide high-quality school-based healthcare for the past 20 years. For students and student athletes requiring orthopedic care, leaving school for appointments is expected. For a chronic condition or congenital issue, these visits can result in multiple absences that may potentially lead to poorer academic performance. Using telehealth to meet the sports medicine and orthopedic needs of students can result in improved school attendance and decreased strain on families who need to miss work for these visits. Increasing access to care can have benefits for students, their families, schools, and physicians. |
