Popis: | In the last few decades, several empirical correlations of SPT-N with geotechnical parameters of sand have been developed based on conventional field and laboratory test results. However, parameters such as, relative density, void ratio range, mean particle size, uniformity coefficient, effective overburden stress, two-dimensional angularity, and fines content, have a significant influence not only on SPT-N values but also on each other. Due to the interrelated nature of such parameters, existing empirical correlations require considerable refinement. A few steps forward have been taken on parametric studies in academic geotechnical research, particularly numerical simulations. New methodologies are in demand to improve such correlations using laboratory data. This paper presents a unique perspective of studies based on modern techniques, discusses the current methodology of analysis, and proposes relevant relationships. Also, case comparative studies were performed to examine the accuracy and efficiency of the present work. |
