Popis: The use of a fluorescent relay (based on 2-(4-biphenylyl)-5-phenyl-1,3,4-oxadiazole fluorescence) for the photoisomerization of humulone into trans-iso-humulone (hop extracts) is described. A design for an adapted photoreactor using both the fluorescent relay principle and an “optical fibre” effect is reported; its methods of working and the advantages of this system are also discussed.
