Currently, much attention is paid to noble metal nanoparticles, which exhibit promising optical properties. These properties depend on many factors, including synthesis conditions, which raises interest to study the formation of such nanoparticles. In this work the results of research of silver ions stable local atomic structure, which were placed in a glass matrix by Ag(+) ↔ Na(+) ion exchange procedure, are presented. Subsequently, these structures can be reduced by heat treatment or laser irradiation, to form nanoparticles. Research is supported by results of X-Ray absorption spectroscopy and computer modeling by density functional theory methods.Currently, much attention is paid to noble metal nanoparticles, which exhibit promising optical properties.
