Magnetic rotation spectroscopy of tetraphenyl tin

Popis: Magneto‐optical rotary dispersion and magnetic circular dichroism studies of the lowest energy singlet to triplet transition of single crystal tetraphenyl tin which clearly demonstrate the feasibility of magnetic rotation spectroscopy on uniaxial organic molecular crystals are reported. Special considerations for these types of experiments are discussed. A simple model where only the field‐induced mixing of the triplet sublevels is considered completely accounts for the observed magneto‐optical activity. Symmetry assignments derived from these studies agree with those reported earlier.
