Metal spraying is one of the modification surface methods that is widely used to increase the hardness, durability, resistance to abrasion, and corrosion of the surface. This method can be used to rehabilitate worn and corroded parts. This paper applies the electric arc spraying method to generate a 25%Cr - 5%Al - Fe coating on an SKD61 steel substrate. The results show that the coating surface of 25%Cr - 5%Al - Fe has a large undulating, bright, and relatively uniform coating. The coating structure of the samples includes the coating area, bonding region, heat affected area, and bottom steel. The hardness after quenching and tempering increases significantly from 252.5 HV0.1 to about 595 HV0.1. The average hardness is 240.6 HV0.1, 549.5 HV0.1, and 772.7 HV0.1 correspondings to the steel substrate, the heat-affected zone, and the coating, respectively. The hardness of the coating is about 3 times higher than that of the steel substrate. |
