Abstract This paper presents a case study of horizontal-well completions in the Westerose field in Central Alberta in which coiled tubing was used in multiple hydraulic-fracture stimulations. Coiled tubing is cost effective, and offers many operational advantages over the conventional workover rig. The design of the well-completion program, including risk analysis and contingency plans, is discussed. A bottomhole assembly (BHA) that allows running and setting a bridge plug to isolate a lower section of the well and perforating the next section in one trip is discussed. PanCanadian's experience with coiled tubing and conventional workover rigs is also presented. P. 149 |
