Model-based engine condition monitoring systems for the gas turbine engine are investigated. Real engine data is used to build linear and nonlinear models. Single input single output model is obtained for a single engine operating point. This model is enhanced by a two inputs single output model. Single operating point models have the attraction of simplicity. However, the interpolation between the different operating points results in uncertainties in model predictions. A nonlinear model to encapsulate the engine operation over six different operating points is determined, which addresses the interpolation problem. The main advantage of the proposed method is its simplicity. It can be applied with the present condition monitoring system without any modification of existing instrumentation. |
