Fleischer's Glossary of Mineral Species 2004: By Joseph A. Mandarino & Malcolm Back. Reviewed in The Canadian Mineralogist 43, 1436 1437 (2005) by Peter Bayliss. A reviewer's assessment of the merits of a recently published book is by its very nature a subjective call. Negative reviews do not normally give rise to a rebuttal. However, in this case, Dr. Bayliss raised several questions of scientific nature that do invite a reply, in the editor's opinion.
