In the present work, an alternative value aggregation to the residues from the industrialization of tilapia is suggested by extraction of chondroitin sulfate from the bones of the spine. Resulting materials were chemically characterized by thermogravimetry (TGA/DSC), infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Through the characterization of CS, it was possible to conclude that the methodology used to extract it generated a product with high thermal stability and purity. |
