Popis: Moored velocity measurements and hydrographie surveys east of Taiwan, collaborating with altimeter and satellite-tracked surface drifters observations, are demonstrated in this paper to elucidate the influence of propagating mesoscale eddies on field measurements. Observations show that both of the current structure and hydrographic fields can be easily shaped by eddies, even for the westwardintensified swift Taiwan Current. A mechanism of interaction between Taiwan Current and propagating eddies is proposed to explain the observed phenomena. Readers are reminded that conclusions based on that conclusions based on observations, either direct or indirect measurements, conducted over the regions where mesoscale eddy activities are prominent are possibly only snapshots of highly changeable oceanic conditions.
