Popis: | Thrips are persistent pests of mango and understanding the dynamics in relation to weather factors and their natural enemies could be useful for effective IPM This study done for eight years (2012-19) on mango cv. Kesar, Alphonso and Amrapali revealed two peaks of incidence, first during flowering-cum-fruit setting stages, and the second during new flush stage. Activity was observed on 1–23rd and 37–52nd standard weeks, with mean incidence across all standard weeks being maximum with the cv. Kesar (1.15± 0.38) followed by Alphonso (1.08± 0.37) and Amrapali (0.89± 0.43). The correlation analyses revealed a negative relation with minimum temperature, relative humidity, rainfall and wind velocity. Among its natural enemies, coccinellids and chrysopids were found positively correlated with incidence. Weather factors explained up to 59% variations in incidence, with the stepwise regression equation showing that minimum temperature (Y=2.371a-0.093 Tmin; and Y=2.522a-0.099 Tmin) and evening relative humidity (Y=1.832a-0.025 RHEve) could enable prediction of incidence (with high R2 of 34, 31 and 20%) and are observed with least standard error (0.71, 0.81 and 0.88). This validated regression model might help IPM decisions. |
