Popis: Islamic legacy planning is poised to be the new growth area in the Islamic finance space. There is a need to professionalize this area to ensure that best practices applied in assisting the society with the right legacy planning solutions. The objective of the paper is to explore the industry expectation of the content of certification for practitioners in the Islamic legacy planning field in Malaysia. This study applies a qualitative research method that involves in-depth focus group discussion with the subject matter experts, academicians and personnel in the area of Islamic financial planning. The focus group discussion is conducted in order to keep abreast with the current trend of the industry. The input sought from the panels includes improving the learning process, suggesting the method of delivering the subject, and recommending relevant learning methodology. The discussion was also discussed on the suitability of the program structure with participants. The experts agreed that the content of the training should be comprehensive to cover the required knowledge, skills and other characteristics (KSOC) of practitioners in the Islamic legacy planning field. The outcome of the program developed is to advise clients on Islamic legacy planning practices and to use the planning tools effectively. This study discovered the knowledge, skills and other characteristics (KSOC) required to practice in the Islamic legacy planning industry in Malaysia from the perspective of practitioners and lead as a trajectory path to the development of competency framework for the Islamic legacy planners in Malaysia.
