Neutron radiography as a tool for cadmium distribution measurement in Hg1−xCdxTe single-crystals∗

Popis: Neutron radiography as applied to the determination of cadmium content in Hg 1− x Cd x Te is described. This technique, in addition to a reasonable sensitivity and spatial resolution, allows a visual estimate of cadmium distribution. In the range 0.19 ⩽ x ⩽ 0.24, composition measurements with an everall uncertainty Δ x less than 0.01 and spatial resolution better than 150 μm may be performed. Capabilities of the method to study the parameters affecting the growth of crystals suitable for infrared detection are shown.
