Worship forms the basis of the beliefs that guide human life. In this way, they sprinkled paddy and worshipped the deity so that the intended action would result in good deeds. When the souls of the heroic deaths on the battlefield emerged as a creative power as well as a destructive power, they worshipped monumental stone by sacrificing toddy to gain creative power and a lamb to protect themselves from destruction. In order to get rid of the disease, they performed a ritual and worshipped God Murugavel by sacrificing a young goat. The Bharatavas (fishermen) worshipped the SuravuKodu (jaw bone of sword fish) for wealth and strength. They worshipped snails, crabs, shrimp, and swordfish made of gold in the freshet flood so that the harvest would increase and the country would be prosperous. |
